Dr. Mark Rickman

Associate Professor

The clinic was established by Associate Professor Mark Rickman, who is currently the Director of Orthopaedic Trauma at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, South Australia’s primary Level 1 trauma centre. He has a special interest in the management of pelvic fractures, as well as the complex fractures around joints. As part of his role with the University of Adelaide, Mark is involved in a number of clinical trials and research projects, including supervising PhD students, all aimed at improving outcomes for trauma patients.

He has undertaken many years of sub-specialist training in the management of complications arising from trauma, including infections and osteomyelitis, non-unions, mal-unions and limb length discrepancies. He spent two years undertaking a research degree and wrote a thesis based on the use of circular frame techniques for these difficult cases. Whilst these are typically not acute problems, referrals of these cases are welcome to either AdFrac or to his private rooms located at Wakefield Orthopaedic Clinic
